Overworld was a land of unity and prosperity. Ruled with just laws under the equally just king and queen, its people were free from sickness, violence, and hunger upon eating fruit from the heart of their world that gave them everlasting life. Caleb, a young boy with a special talent, and his loyal friend, Yara, believe the utopia they lived in would thrive forever until they uncover a dark plot that threatens not only the peace of the Overworld, but the lives of the king and queen, as well. It is a race against time for Caleb and Yara to find enough evidence to expose the truth, but will they be in time to protect their utopia or will the darkness reign?

Creative, fun, full of wonder.

This book, The Chronicles of Triad: The Shadow Ring, is a deeply imaginative and refreshing addition to the Christian fantasy genre. The author, Keith Wayne, writes with remarkable creativity and thoughtfulness, drawing readers into a story that feels vivid, layered, and emotionally resonant. Immersive, symbolic, and engaging, it takes readers on a captivating journey through a beautifully crafted world filled with harmony, nature, mystery and wonder all while weaving in powerful spiritual themes and biblical parallels throughout.

One of the strongest aspects of this book is its rich allegory and symbolism. Throughout the narrative, themes of the Kingdom of God, discernment, and the struggle between truth and deception are explored with depth and insight. The biblical imagery is beautifully done, clear enough for Christian readers to appreciate, yet seamlessly integrated so the story remains fully original and stands on its own. Rather than simply retelling scripture, the author creates something fresh that gently points readers back to biblical truth.

Personally, one of my favorite aspects of this book was how beautifully the worldbuilding and characters worked together to bring the story to life. The setting feels vivid, peaceful, and full of wonder, creating a setting that naturally stirs deeper reflection. It invites readers to imagine what life might look like in a world untouched by sin. A world full of peace, kindness, harmony, and flourishing creation. In many ways, it evokes thoughts of Eden while also pointing toward the beauty and peace of Heaven. What makes this world even more compelling is the characters who inhabit it. The characters are another standout aspect of this book. Each feels distinct, memorable, and thoughtfully written, adding heart and emotional depth to an already compelling story. Their relationships feel natural and refreshing, bringing warmth and balance to the mystery, adventure, and deeper spiritual themes woven throughout the book.

This book is bursting with wonder, heartfelt emotion, and the kind of immersive storytelling that makes it genuinely fun to read. It balances mystery, adventure, symbolism, and emotional depth in a way that keeps readers invested from beginning to end. What makes it even more special is that it delivers all of this while remaining wholesome and family-friendly, making it an enjoyable read for a wide range of ages.

Overall, this is a highly enjoyable and thought-provoking read. If you enjoy fantasy filled with meaningful themes, imaginative worldbuilding, mystery, and strong Christian undertones, this book is absolutely worth picking up. A refreshing and memorable read for Christian fantasy lovers.
